Emily’s Last Day

There were five girls who were walking along in the magical world of Azurath. But today it wasn’t so magical at all! When the whole city stepped out of there houses they all magical transformed into different wild creatures. The whole city screamed! “Aaaaahhhh!” The five girls Emily, McKenzie, Grace, Alexa, and Sydney all turned into animals as well. Emily turned into a wolf. McKenzie is a liger. Sydney is a horse. Grace a cougar. Alexa is a fox. “Oh my gosh” Sydney said frightened. “What happened to us?” Everyone was so shocked they didn’t even notice the unicorn standing in front of Wal-Mart. Everyone was so flabbergasted that they didn’t notice the unusual figure in front of Wal-Mart.

The girls all were flabbergasted; they didn’t know what to do next. Then Alexa had a good idea. “How about we go to the sorcerer, Nolan, he would know what to do!” They sprinted to the sorcerer’s home. Grace knocked on his door and a little elf answered. “Yes?” “We are here to see the sorcerer.” Grace demanded. “No one can see him, he is forbidden to talk to anyone!” “But it is important everyone in the city has turned into animals!” “Ugh, ok you can talk to him but you have to find him. He left yesterday in the woods and he hasn’t come back yet, I’m worried he might be lost.” “Here is a riddle to get you started on your journey. Five will begin a journey down the blue path; they will find an unusual visitor; then at the end only four will survive.” And with that the five girls were off on there journey.

The five girls were walking down the blue path to find the magical unicorn Nolan. The five girls were grazing down the blue path like the elf said to find the magical sorcerer Nolan to turn all of the people of Azurath back to human form. They saw a crow lying on the ground with an injured wing. They rush over to see what happened and “Beware” the crow said “you do not want to go down this path! Go down the red path and you will get what you want!” “Should we do it, it kind of looks scary down that way compared to the blue path.” McKenzie said worriedly. The girls were terrified but what they didn’t know was that down the blue path was what they came for, Nolan, and down the other path was something a whole lot worse.

So the girls started sprinting down the red path and at the end of the path they found a cave covered with beautiful flowers and beads of every color imaginable. “This,” exclaimed Emily,” must be were Nolan must be!” “Who dares enters my cave?!?” Then a unicorn comes out and the five girls notice that it was not Nolan. It was Nolan’s evil twin Dolly! The five girls were so scared they stopped in there track and froze. “Ah I see you have come here why?” Sydney was the only brave one who got the nerve to talk. “We thought this was where your brother lived but I guess we were wrong.” “Indeed you were. But I might be able to help you I do have some potions that might help.” “Well we need one that can turn us back to normal.” She exclaimed. Then Dolly went back into his cave and brought out a bottle that he claimed would turn them back to normal. “Does anyone want to try it first; how about you?” So Emily was the one who got picked to try the potion. She walked up nervously to Dolly. “All you have to do is take a sip of this and you will turn back to normal.”

Emily took the bottle and took a sip and she started to feel funny then McKenzie noticed that she was starting to turn pale. “What did you do to her?!?” Alexa said angrily. “Ha, Ha, Ha” Dolly said evilly “you should have know that I am Nolan’s twin, I poisoned your little friend here and she will die in about thirty seconds and there is no curing it either.” The five girls were so shocked all they could do is just stand there open-mouthed. (Or lie there in Emily’s case.) Sydney was the only one who got out of shock and she did the most amazing and bravest thing anyone can do, she got so mad she stood up found a potion that turns anyone that gets powdered with it they will turn into a cockroach. She started walking sneakily behind Dolly and threw powder on him and he suddenly turned into a tiny cockroach and then Sydney stepped on him and killed him.

After that was over the four girls picked up Emily and they ran back the way they came and sprinted down the blue path to Nolan. Once they came to the end of the path there was another cave that almost looked identical to Dolly’s one. This one has beads all around it in a bunch of colors imaginable. Then Grace went up to the door and this time the sorcerer, Nolan, appeared. “Our friend” McKenzie said worriedly “needs help your evil twin brother poisoned her and she has died and we were hoping that you had a potion that can revive her, also we need a potion that can make the whole city humans again.” “Well I do have a potion to turn the city back to normal but for your friend here I am so sorry but I cannot revive her. I am terribly sorry.” “Oh that’s ok I guess.”

The four girls carried Emily to the city to give her a proper funeral and to give the city the potion to change everyone back to normal. “Well I guess that ended our journey and we found out the riddle.” The girls live happily ever after. (Well kind of there friend just died you know.)

I Don’t Want To Go!

Dear Parents,

In now that you guys said that I am going back to North Carolina this summer but I protest! I think that I should stay here instead of going there. I can’t just leave everything that I now of here; it’s just wrong!
If I leave than I will have to leave my friends too and when I go there than I would have to make new friends. My friends will miss me so much and I would miss them so much too. They will all be lonely without me; to them I am like their leader and BFFTLAD (which means best friend forever till life and death). All of my friends “love” me and they will miss me so much. They say that they “love” me because I am so important to them and if I left, nothing would be the same without me. They say they “love” me so much they would cry! Also in Kansas there is a lot more things and activities to do than there is North Carolina. Like here there is a lot more amusement parks but in North Carolina there are beaches so that is good. But if I leave my family here will they miss me so much! All of the things in Kansas that I have experienced I might be able to in North Carolina again and the things that I will leave behind I will really miss. Like here there are my grandparents, my step-mom, my dad, my friends, my aunt and uncle, my pets, and my cousins.
I hope this convinced you but if it didn’t than I will not give up! If I have to live with Grace and become her sister than I will do that just so I can stay! That should have said that I really, really want to stay here. I will miss everyone so, so, so much!
Love,
Emily

Me & My Sister

My sister and I are different and alike in many ways. We have common interest but we have a ton of things that we both don’t like.

We both play basketball and we both have a dog. But she lives in North Carolina right now and I live in Kansas and after the summer it will be the other way around. I am older than her by fourteen months seventeen days apart. We have common interest like we like to do sports. But she is sort of a girly girl and I am more of a tom boy. She is only ten and I am eleven. Sometimes when my sister and I are together strangers come up to us and ask if we are twins. We are also different because she goes to daycare and I get to stay home alone. We are also both girls.

Like I said before my sister and I have a lot in common and differences. And because we have so much things that are different we always fight a lot and since we have some things in common we get a long pretty well also.

Alexa’s Birthday

Balloons Today was Alexa’s birthday and she was going to have a sleep over at her house. She is turning twelve. She invited Maddy, Hadley, Grace, and Me. I had gotten her a pair of earrings that looked like cherries and the second Harry Potter book that she wanted.
She was going to pick each of us up to go to Gambino’s. I was the first one picked up, and then Hadley was, then Maddy, and finally Grace. Each of us bought her a gift.
When we finally got to Gambino’s we played there games for a little while then we ate pizza and watched the Florida Gators. We had to eat really fast because the movie is going to start in an hour! After we ate Alexa opened her presents. Hadley got her a twenty dollar gift card to Areopostale, so did Maddy but Maddy also got her a pair of long socks that had peace signs all over it. Grace got her a card. After we eat are going to go to the movies to go see New Moon.
We all piled back into the van. We had half an hour till it starts. It took us ten minutes to get there and it took us fifteen minutes to get the tickets. We made it in time, the movies starts in five minutes! Hadley and Maddy have already seen it but everyone else hasn’t yet. During the movie we dared Maddy to say oo la la when Jacob took off his shirt and said eww when Edward takes his off. To our surprise she actually did it! We all thought the movie was awesome. Also when Bella told Jacob he was so hot Hadley said yeah you are!
After the movie we went back to Alexa’s house for the sleep over. We opened her presents that her parents got her. They got her Guitar Hero 5 and a chi curling iron. We all played on her wii. We played her new Guitar Hero 5 and Dance Dance Revolution. After we got tired of playing that we went up to Alexa’s room and listened to her I pod. We did that for about an hour then we were feeling a bit tired we all went to Alexa’s room. We were getting ready to go to bed. It was one o’clock in the morning when we finally were done. But then we weren’t tired anymore. So we just stayed up till three talking. At about three-thirty we all fell asleep.
In the morning we all woke up and went in the kitchen to find Alexa’s parents making us chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, and bacon for breakfast. After breakfast Alexa took us all home.

My Trip to Chicago

It was two in the morning when my family and I was going to catch a ten hour train ride to Chicago to go meet our friends, Armando and Linda; it took us about ten hours to get there. The train ride was very scenic. There were lots of grassy fields and mountains along the way there.
When we finally got there and our friends were waiting at the station for us but I didn’t know what they looked like because I haven’t seen them in a long, long time. When we finally found them they looked so familiar then. They took us back to their house and we were deciding where to visit first. Then we finally decided to go to the Sear’s Tower. We went all the way up to the one hundred eighth floor. It was so high up that we could see the next state next to us! When you look down the people look like little tiny ants. After we went back we were all hungry.
We went to go eat a cheese cake factory that was connected to a store. There were tons and tons of cake there. When we were done eating we went to go shopping for souvenirs. I found a glass two inch sculpture that had the Sear’s Tower in it and it has blinking light inside of it. My step-mom found a shot class.
It was the day that we would have to go back to Kansas. We packed our things and they took us to the airport, we said good-bye to them. When we boarded the plane I thought to myself and said that it was the best day ever and I want to come back sometime again.

Lesson 14 – Brian’s Winter

1. Why was Brian nervous about the coming of winter?
He would be worried about finding shelter, food, and the harsh cold weather. There with the harsh weather it would be difficult to find food or to build or find shelter.

2. If Betty hadn’t come to Brian’s rescue during the bear’s visit, what might have happened?
If Betty didn’t come Brian would have been badly injured or even killed if possible. I don’t think that in real life that a random skunk would save a boy’s life but Betty and Brian had a connection.

3. Based on what you know about the outdoors, do the events in this story seem believable? Explain. Yes, because if you had food in the wild other animals would want it. Just like Betty and the bear wanted it. I don’t think that a skunk would actually save a kids life from a bear. If it did then it was just becauseit didn’t like the bear or they were afraid.

4. What theme does the relationship between Brian and Betty suggest?
The theme is that even the smallest thing can make a big change. Because the skunk became friends with him because he gave her food. Then she saved him because he was in trouble.

5. Write a paragraph that describes what Brian’s actions in the wilderness reveal about his character. Use details from the story to support your answer.
He is very clever and nice to animals. He is always prepared for harsh weather or animals. If he didn’t give the skunk some food he would of been spraied and he would of been killed by the bear.

The Nile River Gift of Egypt

Nile river The Nile is the longest river in the world. It is about 4,000 miles long, north from the snowcapped mountains of East Africa. The Nile dumps into the Medditaranion Sea.The river got its name from the Greek word Neilos, which means valley. It is very important to the Egyptians.

The Nile River is a very important source to the Egyptians. It is also known as “The Gift of Egypt”. The Nile is very important to the Egyptians. It provides them food, water, and paper from papyrus. They also clean their clothing in the river. They wouldn’t be able to survive wihtout the Nile. The Nile has been a civilization for more than 5,000 years. The Nile has been in Egypt since 6 million BC.

The Nile River did a very important role in Egypt. For example it provided them transportation for them to get to place to place. It has a very good source of food and water for them. It gives them a variety of fish to eat. On the banks of the Nile there are plants called papyrus. It is a reed plant that the Egyptians used to make paper. When the Egyptains needed to get water from the Nile they created a device called a shadoof.

A majestic view of the great pyramids of Egypt is seen here through a row of elegant palm trees. The pyramids are a proof of one among many of the creative, imaginative, and skilled tech. Innovations of which ancient Egyptians are admired. The land around the Nile is very fertile and is good for farming. The Nile River flooded every year in mid-June which they called the yearly flooding or irrigation system. Farmers had to move every year because of the yearly floods.

The Nile River is a type of history. Moses was born when there were Jews as slaves and any Jewish boy that was born would be put to death so his mother hid him behind a bush but then the aunt heard the guy coming and let him float down the river to be safe. Then he convinced him to let the Jews go. So he let them go and he had to part the Red Sea. Then they were safe and free and that is the story of Moses and how the Nile is a part of history.

They have many ways of getting food, water and other things from the Nile. The Nile is very important and a huge source of Egypt. The floods are very harsh and I would hate to have to move every year in mid-June and having to live in different areas every time. I would hate that and I think I would need to make new friends and other things like that.
